Myself and one other mate are planning on heading out to Birdsville for the 2010 races in September.
Our planned route was;
Canberra – Broken Hill
Broken Hill – Innamincka
Innamincka – Birdsville via Walkers Crossing
Road conditions around Innamincka are currently very bad and Walkers Crossing is not likely to re-open until November.

I guess it is back to the drawing board for now – possibly head north into QLD and then south to Birdsville or south down into SA and north up the Birdsville track which is still open.
Hi, enjoyed reading about your adventure. This August I have decided to do a trip on my 2010 KLR650 from Shepparton to Broken Hill, Bourke then up to Gympie for the Gympie Muster. Then across to Birdsville for the Birdsville Races. Then find my way home. 6500km in 20 days which includes 4 days at Gympie and 2 days at Birdsville. At this stage I will be making the trip alone. If you have any contacts of people who may be thinking of doing a similar trip I would be only too happy to make contact. Any advice u could offer would be appreciated too.
